SURRENDER REQUEST FORM
We do our best to accept animals requiring new homes as quickly as we can.
How quickly we can accept animals depends on how many animals we currently are housing in our shelter or foster availability. We only take care of cats and dogs.
Animals are accepted in a priority sequence. We are a small shelter with limited capacity on-site and in foster homes. If we are able to help with your cat or dog, there may be a delay until space frees up. Dogs are not housed at the shelter facility. We are not able to helps cats ad dogs in all situations. As much as we would like to help every animal, we are just not able to do that.
Some additional information:
– We are unable to accept a feral cat into our facility. If you are inquiring about a feral cat
suggested organizations to contact are: Telephone City Feral Cat Rescue, Etobicoke Humane Society, Feral Cat Rescue Shelburne, Hamilton Street Cats or Hamilton/Burlington SPCA
– Surrendering a pet requires a donation to help offset the cost of their care. A
Relinquishment Form/Surrender Form must also be signed when the animal is surrendered to us.
– Not all surrender requests will be accepted for admission into our shelter.
– We are unable to pickup, transport or trap a stray cat or dog.
-We are unable to accept surrenders at the door, as animals must be vetted befreo comin in for the health and safety of other animals and people.
-We are a shelter and have no on-site veterinary services.
You may call the shelter, however, shelter workers have no authority to accept or decline animals and will not have the information on the status of your surrender request. All
information is sent to an in-take person, who will contact you. Instructions as to where and when to
transport your animal will be given to you at that time if your pet is accepted.
If AAF accepts your animal for surrender, you will need to sign a Surrender/|Relinquishment form at the time they are transferred to our care.
We may require up to a week to contact you.
